Amazon Q Business and Amazon Q in QuickSight enable staff to utilise data effectively and make improved, swift decisions through corporate information.

Amazon announced the General Availability of Amazon Q, a powerful generative AI-powered assistant designed to accelerate software development and leverage companies’ internal data. Expressing confidence in the tool’s capabilities, Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Artificial Intelligence and Data at AWS, said Amazon Q has shown potential to make employees over 80% more productive.

Amazon Q Business, a component of the assistant, is capable of answering queries, providing summaries, generating content, and completing tasks securely based on enterprise data. Developed with privacy and security as a core objective, Amazon Q Business integrates smoothly with existing identities, roles, and access permissions, offering personalized interactions for each individual user. It also refrains from utilizing customer content to train its underlying model for anyone else.

The tool can connect to over 40 common business tools, such as wikis, intranets, Atlassian, Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Slack, and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). It enables business users to access all their data, irrespective of its location in their organization.

In terms of business intelligence (BI), Amazon QuickSight, AWS’s unified BI service, has been equipped with Amazon Q, enabling business analysts to create BI dashboards swiftly using natural language. Enabled by this capability, users can get AI-driven summaries of dashboards, ask questions of data for instant answers, and create detailed, customizable data narratives underlining key insights, trends, and drivers.

An exciting new capability of Amazon Q Business, Amazon Q Apps is a service that allows employees to rapidly create generative AI-powered apps based on company data, even without any prior coding experience.

Describing a real-world benefit of Amazon Q, Bani Bedi, senior vice president at Smartsheet, shared how Amazon Q Business is shaping knowledge management and enhancing employee productivity at her company. She explained that the AI tool provided a unified repository of organizational knowledge, allowing their workforce to access immediate answers, significantly boosting employee productivity.
