Lost Lore, a game development studio, discovered a money-saving strategy by implementing artificial intelligence (AI) and managed to save over $70,000 while developing their game, Bearverse. The studio utilized the AI framework Midjourney image to produce Bearverse, which was designed and refined by Vlad Martyniuk through a research and development project.
Eugene Kitkin, the founder of Lost Lore, explained how the AI framework helped to cut costs and save time throughout development. He stated that while AI technology cannot create game maps, it effectively creates the arrangements, styles, and content of items, particularly in areas where there is no human interaction. This optimized the game development process by making it 10-15 times faster compared to more traditional methods, while achieving similar outcomes.
The development team reported that it took them a week to develop and perfect 17 characters and various UI elements for Bearverse using AI, a process that would have ordinarily taken around 16 hours or roughly two and a half days if done manually by a team of specialists. The significant decrease in time and expense spent on character development exemplifies why the implementation of AI technology in video game development is growing increasingly prevalent within the industry.
The benefits provided by AI extend beyond time and cost-efficiency, with it also enabling streamlining of the development process. These advantages are significant in the gaming industry where budget and time constraints can often be determining factors in a project’s success. Hence, Lost Lore has proven, through their implementation of AI in Bearverse, how the technology can streamline the process, making it more efficient and cost-effective.
The valuable contribution of AI in cost and time-saving, offering a productive strategy for game developing studios, underlines its growing relevance in the industry. With game studios like Lost Lore leading the way in incorporating AI into their development process, it’s clear that this technology holds considerable potential in driving the future of gaming. The future, profoundly steeped in AI-powered solutions, will undeniably see more studios embracing this technology as an essential part of their toolbox, revolutionizing the way games are developed.
