Google overhauls Chrome, introducing three new AI-generated features

Artificial Intelligence is infiltrating various technologies including phones, planes, and automobiles, and most recently, Google’s Chrome browser that now hosts new AI-driven features. One remarkable introduction is the Tab Organizer, an AI tool enabling efficient tab management. Perfect for multitaskers, the feature groups related tabs, simplifying processes like online shopping, planning trips, or extensive online research. Intuitively, it suggests and creates tab groups, assigns name and emojis for these groups for comfortable future access.

Using this tool is quite straightforward – right click the concerned tab and select “Organize Similar Tabs” or click the arrow to the left of the tab. This feature is a boon for all who manage several tabs simultaneously on Chrome. Additionally, AI-driven custom themes have been integrated into Chrome. This feature allows the creation of personalized browser themes, using same AI technology that generates wallpapers for Android 14 and Pixel 8 devices.

To create an AI theme, locate “Customize Chrome”, click “Change Theme,” and then “Create with AI.” Users have the freedom to select a subject, mood, visual style, and color; Chrome AI will generate a corresponding theme. Another noteworthy feature set to be released in the forthcoming Chrome update is “Help me write.” This AI tool will assist users in drafting content across the web, suitable for writing reviews, formal inquiries or RSVPs. It offers AI-generated content suggestions, activating it requires simply right-clicking a text box, selecting “Help Me Write,” and entering a few words or phrases.

Despite some critics arguing that Google’s moves are superficial and have somewhat missed the expected mark, these new features herald Google’s ambitious plan to integrate AI and machine learning more deeply into Chrome. Recent efforts to integrate Gemini into Pixel devices have been another step in Google’s AI focus. However, its latest and most potent AI model, Gemini Ultra, is still largely under wraps. Therefore, critics might be better off reserving judgement until its capabilities are fully revealed. Altogether, AI’s integration into Google Chrome has just begun, and these novel features certainly illustrate the ongoing technological advancement in browser operations.
