Linkin Park Releases an AI-Created Music Video Entirely.

Alternative rock band, Linkin Park, has debuted a new music video for “Lost,” a song retrieved from the band’s archives, attracting attention even long after the death of the lead singer, Chester Bennington. Highlighting the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the video was animated by esteemed Web3 artists Emily Yang (also known as ‘pplpleasr’) and Maciej Kuciara in collaboration with AI start-up, Kaiber. The software, with an AI-powered graphic engine that designs videos based on user-defined prompts and styles, was used to craft the groundbreaking clip.

The video for “Lost” stars ‘Mirai,’ the female protagonist of Shibuya’s animated Web3 film series, “White Rabbit.” Shibuya, a video platform co-founded by Pplpleasr and Kuciara, presents “White Rabbit” for free, but sells NFT passes to fans who want to vote on the film’s narrative structure and ultimate conclusion. “White Rabbit” merges aspects of anime, Black Mirror, Love Death + Robots, and Web3 into a compelling, interactive video series, according to Pplpleasr.

“Lost” holds a unique position as it was recorded during the creation of Linkin Park’s groundbreaking 2003 album “Meteora”, which has sold 16 million copies globally. The release of the song and its music video is part of the commemoration of “Meteora”‘s 20th anniversary. Linkin Park plans to re-release “Meteora” on April 7th as part of this celebration, with the anniversary edition box set featuring a “super deluxe” album containing live content, previously unheard demos, and other exclusive material.

Mike Shinoda, the band’s lead singer, equates finding “Lost” in the archive to rediscovering a cherished but forgotten photograph and asserts fans should anticipate stunning unreleased songs and video footage.

Linkin Park has been on a break since 2017 after the heartbreaking death of Chester Bennington, who committed suicide following a lifelong battle with depression and substance abuse. Despite the hiatus, the band continues to make waves in the music scene through innovative uses of technology, bolstering their legacy and impact.
