The era of AI PCs is here! Microsoft is taking the lead with the introduction of their dedicated “Copilot” key for Windows keyboards – the first major redesign in nearly three decades. Microsoft’s all-new Copilot button, denoted by a ribbon-like symbol, is set to debut on Windows 11 computers, including Surface devices, starting this month. This is an incredibly exciting time for the tech industry!
When pushed, the Copilot key will directly launch an AI-powered chatbot accessed through Bing. This multi-modal AI tool can do a variety of tasks, from generating or summarizing articles, providing online shopping assistance, adjusting PC settings, and even creating music from scratch in collaboration with Suno. Plus, the AI will work with both Microsoft apps and software on your PC and, in the usual way, through Bing. Microsoft has also reinforced security and privacy for tasks involving personal information – so you can be sure your data is secure.
Copilot is also available for Android and iOS devices, with a huge range of functions, such as integrating with Paint to create digital art, voice input control, and a variety of system actions such as changing to dark mode, enabling ‘do not disturb,’ taking screenshots, and summarizing websites.
The Copilot button will be located near the space bar, and will replace the right CTRL button or a menu key on some PCs. Other computer manufacturers will also be incorporating the Copilot button into their new models, some of which may be revealed at an upcoming CES tech event in Las Vegas.
The AI-integrated device revolution is in full swing, with Samsung announcing “AI-powered” phones and Apple upgrading Siri. Dell also recently announced further details of AI integration into XPS laptops. The future is here – AI devices are set to become the norm, and we can’t wait to see what wonders they bring! 2024 will provide the answers.
The launch of the Copilot button signals a new era in PCs – one of AI-integration and convenience. With Microsoft at the helm, we can be sure that the future of tech is in good hands!
