Microsoft recently launched their Copilot+ PCs worldwide, which are their latest foray into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Copilot+ PCs come with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that performs trillions of operations per second, making them arguably the fastest and smartest Windows computers ever built. Their Sydney launch event offered the opportunity to explore the new features of these machines, where guests were invited to “travel” to various “destinations,” each showcasing a different feature.
One of the highlights included AI Mail Assistance, a feature which demonstrates Copilot’s capabilities within Microsoft Word by guiding users in the writing process. Moving along, guests experienced a personalized demonstration of the PC on a giant keyboard. This captivating spectacle was more about creating a memorable event rather than revealing any in-depth technical details.
The next feature showcased was Copilot Explorer, an AI-powered tool that was used to plan a holiday trip within seconds. The unique selling point of Copilot+ is its AI integration directly within the system, bypassing the need for slower, less secure cloud-based operations.
Another interesting feature demonstrated was Recall. This automatically takes screenshots of your device every five seconds (with the owner’s consent), allowing you to easily search for any information you’ve encountered previously. However, the rollout of this feature has been delayed due to some controversies, primarily surrounding privacy concerns.
The event also showcased Cocreator, a more artistic feature of Copilot+. In this feature, stick figure drawings are transformed into more elaborate designs by the AI system itself. Attendees then had their drawings printed onto tote bags as a keepsake.
Lastly, Microsoft astounded attendees with a special gift – a stylish and high-quality umbrella. While an umbrella might not seem much in comparison to a brand new Copilot+ PC, it was a surprise gift that left a lasting impression on the attendees and was symbolic of Microsoft’s attention to every detail. The product’s launch was well-received, and attendees appreciated the innovative display and demonstrations of Microsoft’s latest interface, the Copilot+ PC. Despite some minor hiccups, the event was a successful blend of product demonstration and guest interaction, leaving a lasting impression.
