Which AI healthcare course should I enroll in?

Deciding what healthcare AI course to take can be a challenging task. Ignacio H. Medrano, the founder and Chief Medical Officer, shares an interesting analogy with a friend, Nuria Gago. She once asked for his help while writing a book, as she wanted to accurately portray a character with Alzheimer’s. Despite being a successful author and winner of the prestigious Planeta Prize, when asked about the best course to improve writing, Nuria advised Ignacio to simply start writing instead of looking for a course.

This sentiment is reiterated in various fields, whether it could be asking Michael Jordan on what basketball course to take or consulting Dabiz Muñoz, regarded as the world’s best chef, on what cooking courses he recommends. Similarly, even the best fathers can’t recommend a specific course on parenting. In the same vein, when asked about a suitable course on AI and healthcare, Ignacio often suggests no certain course but rather to start a project.

Courses can be useful, they usually act as a safe space to procrastinate or alleviate guilt about not knowing. However, hands-on learning tends to be more valuable. A short course of few hours to grasp the basics and ascertain interest makes more sense according to Ignacio. To sum up, no matter what field it is, real experience and hands-on practice matter more than theoretical knowledge gained from a course. For a healthcare AI course, it may be better to jump straight into a project to truly understand and learn.
